Credit Limits
Set the total limit for each credit card — leave at 0 for none. Usage is based on that card's current Open expense entries.
Data Management
Import a CSV of entries, export your current data, or download a blank template to fill in.
Paste your Google Apps Script Web App URL below to sync your data across devices automatically.
Instructions
A 2-minute walkthrough of every page and the main things you can do — arrows point at what's being explained, step by step.
A few things that aren't obvious just from looking at the app.
- Double-tap the donut chart on Home to jump straight into Category Detail for whatever's currently selected there.
- Press and hold a slice of the donut chart to open Category Detail for that specific subcategory — a quick tap on a slice does nothing on purpose, so brushing the chart by accident never navigates away.
- Press and hold a Transaction row to enter bulk-select mode — checkboxes appear on every row, and the held one gets checked. Tap any row to toggle it while in this mode; deselecting everything exits it automatically.
- Swipe a row left or right to mark it Closed or delete it, with a 5-second Undo.
- Scan a receipt: in Add Entry tap Scan receipt, then take a photo or choose a PDF from your phone. The store, total, date and a suggested subcategory are filled in for you to check before saving. You can also open an existing expense (for example an upcoming one with an estimated amount) and scan the receipt there: it updates the amount and date and marks it paid, and leaves your category, subcategory and notes alone. Entries on a card or financing stay Open. Files are read on your device and never uploaded. The first photo scan downloads the reader (about 10 MB) and the first PDF a small PDF reader, so each needs a connection that one time.
- Swipe a page left or right to move to the next or previous month on Home, Budgets and Category Detail (touch screens). On Money and Insights, swipe the month bar to change month, and swipe the page to switch sections.
- Ctrl/Cmd+K opens the command palette to search pages and transactions from anywhere.
- Budgets (More → Budgets): enter your monthly income (or tap Autofill to use the selected month's Net Income) and get a suggested split across your expense categories, based on your average spending over the last 12 months (or a standard split where there is no history). Type a % of income for any category, or nudge it with +/-, and its $ amount updates alongside. Set a maximum expected expenses % (90% by default) and amounts automatically scale down proportionally to fit within it. Going over that maximum highlights a warning and suggests which categories to trim. Each category also shows a progress bar tracking actual spend against that plan for whichever month you've selected. "Save as My Budgets" turns the result into $ targets the rest of the app (like the Monthly Recap's over-budget count) uses.
- Debt payoff goals (Debts page): each account shows a progress bar (% ever charged that's now paid off) and a projected payoff date based on your trailing 3-month average payment pace — no manual goal to set up.
- Net Worth (Money page): a summary card and 12-month trend chart, calculated as your investments and capital minus whatever debt is currently Open (unpaid).
- Paying off a debt account or staying on budget for every category in a month triggers a little celebration 🎉.
- The bell (top right on mobile, top of the sidebar on desktop) shows a red count of Open entries that are Past Due or Due Today. Tap it for the list, grouped into those two sections — tap any entry to edit it.
- On supported browsers (Chrome/Edge, not Safari or Firefox), the same count also appears as a badge on the app's home-screen/dock icon.
- Once a day, if anything's past due or due today, you'll also get a system notification when you open the app (not true push — it only fires because you opened it).
- View Month in Review (Home page, below the balance): a quick recap — income, expenses, net savings, top category, biggest transaction, and net worth change — with a Share button.
- Saved filter presets (Transactions page): tap + Save Filter to name and save your current status/period/search/sort combination as a chip you can re-apply with one tap. The × on a chip removes it.
